Freebies of the week

This week at Rite Aid, I saw a bunch of stuff on clearance (yellow stickers that read "clearance"), mostly beauty or personal care related. I bought Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Natural Shine in Sugar Plum $.57+tax since they were on sale for $1.57 and I had a coupon I found on the new Sally Hansen items display for $1 off lip products.

My Review: The smell is VERY strong of something sweet like cotton candy. The applicator is a brush which I normally like, but I always have trouble with Sally Hansens lipgloss brushes. They don't go in well into the opening, causing the bristles on the side of the brush to get pushed out and up. The color is a bright fuscia with more of a purple tone to it. Good color payoff since the gloss is thick. The gloss has no glitter particles (such  a positive for me) and is sort of sticky because it's so thick.  Click for Makeupallys review.

I also bought a back up of Sunsilks Waves of Envy Sea Mist. I love this stuff and it was on clearance for $2.27. I had a coupon for $1 off from a couple weeks back I got on Redplum I believe so it came out to $1.27. This stuff is so great. It's one of the only drugstore brand hairsprays that give wave to your hair. I pretty much HATE stick straight hair on myself since I don't have a lot of body and it sits very flat and volumeless. The product is compared to Bumble and Bumbles Surf Spray which I've tried and liked, but is over $20 and works almost at the same level as Sunsilks product.

My Review: It smells strong of a certain flowery scent which may bother some of you. You shake the bottle since there is an oily separation on the top. I figured out that the best way to use the mist is to towel dry your hair after washing it and then spraying the product all over the hair, more at the bottom. Then twist your hair and put it into a bun. Leave it that way for a while or blow dry the bun if you're pressed on time. Put down your hair and spray one more time and voila! Sexy, wavy, just came back from laying at the beach, hair! 

Makeupalley has some great reviews on it as well. Hope you guys find it at your Rite Aid since they seem to be discontinued. I can't find it anywhere.

So, CVS is having a B1G1F deal on N.Y.C. items and I used the Redplum coupon that came out this week for $1 off on items over $1.72 so I bought their waterproof eyeliner in Navy ($1.99) and a lipstick in Retro Red($1.99). Purchases came out to 99 cents plus tax. They were also having a sale on all Physicians Forumla products for 40% off. I used a coupon I found on their products at Target that say something like $5.00 off Now that I saved for future use. Their healthy glow mineral bronzer($14.00) came with a bonus mineral pearl glow palette which is normally $12. So at the end I paid something like $1.60 with tax for two fullsize products. SO GOOD. I'll post pics in a bit.

So I went and got my free shirt at Aeropostale yehah. I had to show them a print out of the detailed information (shown in past post) so they could punch in the code. It's basically a tight, stretchy, v-neck, cotton shirt and you choose from a variety of colors...yellow, navy blue, fuscia, and bright green. If they did come in other colors, I didn't seem them. I highly recommend getting one since you can wear them during the summer! I don't ever shop there, but I did end up buying a pair of bleached jeans for $15 when I went to get my shirt. Big sale there.

I also went to my local Walgreens where they were having a 50% off sale on Rimmel cosmetics and picked up Spotlight Beige and Dreamy.  I think it was Kmart where I picked up two coupons on the Rimmel display for $2 off Moisture Renew lipsticks which I used towards the Walgreens purchases so each came out to $2 each with tax. Sadly Spotlight Beige is the closest Americans are gonna get to Nude Delight.

Spotlight Beige is a nudish beige with a pink undertone definitely darker than Revlon's Soft Nude and more pink than Revlons Superlustrous Almost Nude (more orange toned).

Jamba Juice is having its 20th Anniversary meaning buy one get one free off all drinks with this coupon from 4/12-4/25!

Oh Jack in the Box is introducing a new type of fries to their menu and so we get to sample em for free on Friday 4/16. 

Cinnabon is giving out two free cupcake bites on April 15 from 6pm to 8pm in "honor" of tax day haha. YAY.

Free T-shirt from Aeropostale with a print out of seventeen.com's homepage. I haven't tried it yet but shall tomorrow. I heard they're being hard about the page having to be from the REAL magazine so print this out... it clearly states that you can use the homepage print out:))) Shall update tomorrow!

I went to Kmart today (double coupons week=double any coupon up to two dollars) and got two CG eyeshadow palettes for free as well as eyedrops from Visine. The sale ended today so I didn't have time to blog about it:(

Eyeshadows were $4.99 and doubled coupon for $2 (doubled=$4) plus another $1 off CG coupon found on Maxfactor products at Kmart.

The one on the left is the CG eyeshadow quad from the Queen collection in desert bronze #0225 and the one on the right is CG eye enhancer in tropical fusion #205. Swatched once on bare skin. They're more pigmented I think in real life. The desert bronze is very glittery.

Using crappy drying out diorshow...I'm really into the gross, clumpy lashes with minimal makeup these days. I use literally 15 coats of the stuff. Keepin it crispy.

Also Nivea's A Kiss of Flavor in Hint of Cherry. It's got a very light cherry flavor which is also very lightly sweet. It isn't that moisturizing and the more you pack on, the stronger the color gets which defeats the purpose of the "hint" part of the chapstick. It doesn't feel heavy on the lips like smackers. It's harder than that. The color is a bit stronger than shown in this picture.

So I tried out "Soft Nude" by Revlon and I think I like. It's sort of peachy, but definitely more on the nude side. It's nice since its moisturizing and smooth on the lips, without overdrying. Soft nude is more soft pinky peach while "Smooth Nude" from Revlons colorstay soft and smooth collection is a creamy, yellow based nude that comes out beigeish with a VERY slight purple iridescent undertone. "Nude Attitude" from Revlons Matte collection is a creamy, peach nude,  that comes out like concealer on my lips, with a VERY slight pink iridescent undertone. Oh dear, I am sooo bad at describing shades.

A lipstick I want to try out is Rimmel's "Nude Delight" for their moisture collection. They don't carry it where I live. I heard "Spotlight Beige" is very close in color but I checked it out and it's darker than I want. It's more of a dark nude which I have too many of. They're not that flattering on me. Moving on.

simplicity

I'm all about simplicity. Especially when it comes to cosmetics. I detest having to carry a lipstick that bleeds on the lips, leading me to carry a lipliner and then a gloss since the darn stick doesn't shine. Even more now because I don't carry a purse around. I hate having to carry crap and to have to worry about a bag. When I used to carry a bag, I DEPENDED on it on it so I'd just start stuffing it with things I didn't need like socks and nailpolishes in like 5 colors. Yea like I was going to paint my toes, while driving, on the way to work out. It'd get so big that Mary Poppins would be ashamed. Clothing with pockets is a must, or I resort to sticking stuff into my boots or bra.

I'm always on the go and since I don't carry a mirror, I check my reflection to see if anything's out of place. This is why I say that the PERFECT lip-stain/stick/gloss/tint is a MUST.

The lipstick I used to ALWAYS carry around was "B-list" (creamy, matte, peachy nude) by Lancome until it got discontinued, then I went through 3 tubes of "Almost Nude" (creamy, matte, dark peachy nude) by Revlon which is also discontinued. Now, I think this is the culprit for my under lip acne so here I am, trying to find a lipstick for myself.

So if someone can find me a perfect peachy lipstick that isn't too dark for my VERY luminating light skin, please let me know. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
